The cardiovascular and the respiratory systems are essential to maintain the body homeostasis. The basic homeostatic regulations are orchestrated by tonic and reflex mechanisms that control blood pressure and breathing. These functions are compromised in a large number of pathological states such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, stroke, hypertension, hypoxia, respiratory syndromes, and sleep disorders. The purpose of this satellite meeting is to provide an opportunity for the leaders in the field to present snapshots of their latest achievements to young investigators, and to discuss principal directions in which this field will develop.
