Course description
Community-derived recommendations for improvements in acquiring,
interpreting and reporting LA-ICP-MS data in the published scientific
literature will be described and discussed. New reporting tables for data and
information are available which help provide minimum reporting requirements to
improve the capability and therefore quality of the peer-review process.
Current limitations of the technique and issues of reference materials and
validation of results will be described as well as the application of these
principles during interpretation with particular emphasis on igneous and
detrital zircon populations. The on-going efforts of the community will be
explained with more information in the first instance to be found at
